My safety plan

A safety plan is a short list you make ahead of time, for when things get really hard. Fill in what you can. Even one line helps.

In danger or thinking about suicide right now? Call or text 988, text HOME to 741741, or call 911. All help lines →

My safety plan

Thoughts, feelings, or situations that tell me a hard time might be starting.

Things that take my mind off it, without needing anyone else.

Places I can go and people I can be around (I don’t have to tell them what’s going on).

Adults or friends I can tell that I’m struggling. Add how to reach them if it’s safe to.

We filled these in with lines we checked. Edit or add your own.

Things I can do to keep myself safe, like giving something to an adult or keeping it out of reach.

People, pets, plans, and things that matter to me.

Based on the steps of the Stanley-Brown Safety Plan by Barbara Stanley, PhD, and Gregory K. Brown, PhD (suicidesafetyplan.com). This is a simplified self-help version for teens. It works best made with a counselor or trusted adult, and it isn’t a replacement for professional care.
