Get the app
You can add NoWhereElse to your home screen so it opens like an app. The Help now page and crisis lines work even without internet once you’ve opened them once.
Standard install
Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu → Install app or Add to Home screen.
iPhone/iPad (Safari): tap Share (□↑) → Add to Home Screen → Add.
Computer (Chrome/Edge): click the install icon in the address bar.
Install discreetly
If you’d rather the icon not say “NoWhereElse,” you can install a plain version called Notes with a plain notepad icon. It opens to a plain notes screen (notes are saved only on your device). Tap the small “More ›” link at the bottom to get to the full site.
- Open nowhereelse.org/notes/.
- Use the same steps above (Install app / Add to Home Screen) from that page.
- On iPhone, you can rename it to anything before tapping Add.
Be honest with yourself about what this does and doesn’t hide. A plain icon is not invisibility. Someone who opens the app will see the site. Your browser history, the app list in Settings, “recently used” screens, and your phone’s storage may still show nowhereelse.org. Nothing on a shared phone is guaranteed private.
Tips to stay safer
- Use Quick exit (top right) or press Esc twice. It jumps to Google, in the app too.
- Log out of your journal when you’re done.
- Use a private/incognito window when you can, and clear your history if someone checks your phone.
- If having the app could put you in danger, don’t install it. Bookmark nothing, and remember 988 instead.
